If you want to get online while you are on the move, you should always make sure you have a mobile broadband connection of some kind. There are several ways you can get online like this, depending on how much you want to spend, what kind of service you want and which provider you are willing to go with.
The main thing to remember is this – the more you can find out about the different options that are available, the more you will understand about the cost effectiveness of the option you choose.
Getting online with your laptop – no matter where you are
The main method people choose to get online via their laptop is to get a broadband dongle. This plugs into a USB port on their laptop and means they can then connect to the internet and take advantage of the high speed connection.
There is one other option here though and that is to get a laptop that already has everything you need built into it. This means you don’t have to worry about getting a broadband dongle – you just have to choose the right service to connect to. Most people still opt for the dongle though, unless they are lucky enough to have an up to date laptop.
Pay As You Go or a contract dongle?
There are two main ways you can start using the mobile broadband dongle. The one you choose will depend on how often you intend to use the broadband and how much you think you will use it.
You might think this means the same thing but it doesn’t. You see the first aspect relates to how many times you use the mobile broadband service you sign up to. For example do you use it once a week, twice a week or more often? The second aspect means the amount you use it, such as how many websites you visit or how much data you download. Bear both of these aspects in mind as you make your selection.
A Pay As You Go service is better if you only use the mobile broadband occasionally. Normally you will pay a certain amount every time you use it, such as a daily fee for example, but it does depend on the provider.
The other option is to go for a contract. This will represent much better value for money for you if you use the mobile broadband a lot more often. You pay a specific sum each month for a certain level of access; normally you will get a certain speed and level of data usage during that time. With that said however, you can also pay extra per Gb if you need to and you go over your limit.
In some cases you might even be able to get a free laptop with your deal. Alternatively you might find you can get a free dongle with your monthly contract; it all depends on the provider you choose to go with for your mobile broadband deal and dongle.
